Garden Sorrel Seedlings

Garden Sorrel in the nursery pots
Before the arrival of spring, we took tiny Garden Sorrel seeds and planted hundreds of them in nursery pots. As the weather cleared up, we prepared the land by forming circular rows in the soil. The circular foundation gives us easy access to all the plants, decreasing the chances of the plants being stepped on. This allows us to keep our herbs fully organic. The circular rows also let us utilize the land efficiently and plant as much Sorrel as we can.

Sprouted seedlings!
With the help of our volunteers, the seedlings were taken outside and transferred into the dark rich soil of Orchard Hill Farm. Alongside these young plants, we have also planted the Garden Sorrel seeds directly into the soil. These seeds are even smaller than poppy seeds and can easily be mistaken for specks of dirt. It’s incredible to think that these luscious leafy herbs grow out from tiny speck-like seeds. Nonetheless, with sunshine and plenty of nourishment, the seeds and seedlings will grow as large as their grown sorrel peers.
