The Autumn Light

The autumn light
Filters through the leaves
And bathes the earth in an ethereal glow

Russet browns turn to ruby reds
And forest greens turn to shades of chartreuse
Each yellow leaf carries a bright halo
And the bright light saturates
All the pigments with color

Then painted in the background,
Is the deep and endless sky
With wisps of clouds
Penciled over layers of blue

Run outside
And drink it all in
It’s the beautiful artwork
That comes with the autumn light
